Foraging Knives

The foraging knives found on this site were designed in collaboration with Clint Thomas, a life long forager from Oklahoma who regularly collects and uses wild edible and medicinal plants in his every day life. 

 

Prices listed include a kydex sheath with neck/baldric cord and belt/ pocket clip unless otherwise noted. Leather sheaths with neck cord, belt loop or belt clip can be supplied at an additional cost.

Weedeater Plant Knife

The weedeater plant knife is a small, lightweight neck knife designed for the harvesting of wild edible plants, leaves and shoots. The recurved edge makes for great slicing power in such a small package and the belly near the tip makaes it great for splitting leaves, shoots and seed pods. This also makes it a fine improptu skinner if needed. Features a mirror polished flat ground L6 carbon steel 2 3/4" blade  with a 6 1/8" OAL Starting price $150

Weedeater Mushroom Knife

The weedeater mushroom knife knife is a small, lightweight neck knife designed for the harvesting of wild edible mushrooms. The recurved hawkbill type edge makes it great for cutting mushroom stalk cleanly and efficiently, and the tanto-esque tip is excellent for push cutting the bases of mushrooms rooted in treebark. The Harvester

Imagine if a sickle and a skinning knife had a baby, and you'd have The Harvester. A handy belt knife with a 4" mirror polished L6 hawkbill blade that makes gathering and cutting large bundles of herbs and edible plants a breeze. The curved edge really bites in and increases the cutting power of what would otherwise be a small knife. Starting price $225

The Badger

The Badger foraging tool is a modern take on the traditional Japanese Hori Hori gardening tool. This tool will last for generations with proper care and is undoubtedly the most rugged iteration of a hori hori that the market has ever seen. Solid full tang construction from 1/4" thick 5160 spring steel, hand forged 7" concave blade with deep serrations on one edge for cutting through sod and small roots, 5 1/2" full tang handle of indestructible TeroTuf canvas laminate affixed with epoxy and locked in place with 1/4" brass pins and lanyard tube. The standard sheath is a hand stitched 9/10 oz brown bridle leather, with a low profile belt loop that accepts belts or straps up to 2" wide. Features 6 tubular rivets along the edges of the sheath to allow lashing points. The open end design ensures good drainage and an escape route for dirt and debris that may find its way int othe sheath. A tight fit with a full flap stamped with my battle rat logo for maximum security. Handle is available in Black, OD green or Coyote Tan. $250 shipped
